DURHAM UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT AT MOUNT OSWALD

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Hedley Planning Services are delighted to have submitted a Reserved Matters and detailed application for two new colleges on the former Mount Oswald golf course: a new home for John Snow College and a new, 17th College. The proposal, costing £85 million, will result in a total of 1,000 new student bed spaces being created.

The facilities will be self-catering, with a mix of en-suite rooms, shared bathrooms, cluster flats and townhouses. There will also be a Hub, with an events hall, gym, music practice rooms, a launderette, faith room and administrative space, and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

Durham University and the Interserve Consortium have developed a striking design which will provide distinctive identities for both colleges, along with a Hub to be used by both colleges.

The applications are currently live and are expected to go to Planning Committee in early 2018.
