Proposed Wind Turbine at New Balance Athletic Shoes UK, Flimby, Maryport, CA15 8RX

Hedley Planning Services are submitting a planning application on behalf of New Balance Athletic Shoes UK for the placement of a single wind turbine on land adjacent to their factory at Flimby, Maryport, CA15 8RX.

The proposed turbine will measure 75m (tip height) and be situated 60m south east of the existing factory. The proposed turbine will have capacity to generate up to 1MW of energy, thereby significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the factory and production works in addition to enhancing their onsite energy security. Installation and maintenance access for the turbine will be from the A596.

Within the current economic climate, the diversification of energy generation and usage will ensure the long-term sustainability of a local business.

To support a planning application technical documents, such as: landscape, ecology, aviation, shadow flicker and noise are being prepared to reduce any potential impact upon the immediate and wider setting.

A public consultation event has been organised at Flimby Sports and Social Club, Chapel Street, Flimby, CA15 8QG on Tuesday 13 December 2022 between 15:00 and 18:00 in which the public are invited to attend, ask questions of the design team and provide written feedback.
