A new 100 hectare International Advanced Manufacturing Park (Wear Point 55) to the west of the A19

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposed development is a hybrid planning submission and includes:

  • Detailed planning for two large manufacturing warehouses and associated access, roads, utilities and car parking
  • Outline planning for a further industrial unit, an hotel, a car showroom, retail and associated parking

The main access to the site will be off the existing highway, A1290 and the design of the scheme has been considered holistically from how each of the buildings individually look to the integration of roads, landscapes and planting. There is an identified need for land to promote economic growth within Sunderland and South Tyneside, particularly in the automotive Manufacturing and other hi-tech industries to build on the region’s track record for manufacturing and exports.
This opportunity is expected to create at least 5,200 new manufacturing jobs by 2027. More than 500 new jobs being created every year from 2018.
The instruction also includes the promotion of the site through the IAMP Area Action Plan.

Hybrid application submitted, supported by Green Belt Justification Statement, Environmental Statement and full planning justification.
