Hedley Planning Services are submitting a planning application on behalf of Castles and Coasts Housing Association, for the construction of a mixed tenure development of approximately 62 homes on land North of Corbridge Road, Hexham, NE46 1UL.

Castles and Coasts Housing Association are committed to providing affordable homes in sustainable locations and seek to develop new homes with pride, passion, principles and working in partnership. They want to deliver high quality, well designed affordable homes that meet identified local housing need for residents that are energy efficient and will vastly reduce energy bills. The Association’s three core values of ownership, ambition and respect underpin their aims of a customer-driven housing provider which puts residents’ voices at the heart of everything they do.  This approach has underpinned the proposed layout of the scheme and respect for the locality and the environment.

To assess the local housing need, a Housing Needs Survey was conducted in May 2022. This included letters delivered to the residents of Hexham with information to complete an online survey, the results from this survey have provided accurate and up-to-date evidence informing the type of housing needed within Hexham. The Survey found a compelling unmet need for affordable housing for all tenure types and house types in Hexham Town. The community feedback received has been reviewed by Castles and Coasts Housing Association and has informed the proposed layout and mix of homes, with a mixed range of house types proposed to meet priority housing need in Hexham Town.

Before the application is submitted to Northumberland County Council for consideration, we are seeking your thoughts and comments on the proposed development via our interactive consultation website. Comments and feedback submitted will be collected and reviewed by the design team to ensure the development addresses the need of the Hexham Community.

  • 8 four-bedroom semi-detached house
  • 5 four-bedroom detached house

Alongside this interactive consultation website, Castles and Coasts are hosting a Community Consultation event on Thursday 3rd November 2022, between 2pm and 6pm where we very much welcome you to join the Team in person to review the scheme at any time. The event will be held at Hexham Community Centre, Gilesgate, Hexham, NE46 3NP.
