Hedley Planning has secured planning permission for a further 230 homes at Burtree Garden Village in Faverdale, Darlington, on behalf of North East housebuilder Homes by Esh.
The approval builds on the earlier permission for 130 homes at the wider development, taking the total number of homes approved for Homes by Esh across these two schemes to 360.
The latest proposals include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties, designed in accordance with the approved Burtree Garden Village design code to maintain a consistent, high-quality approach across the wider development while responding to local housing needs.
Supporting the wider Burtree Garden Village vision
Burtree Garden Village is expected to deliver approximately 2,000 homes, alongside community facilities including a community centre, pub and health provision.
The new homes will incorporate electric vehicle charging points, with additional parking provided where possible. The scheme also exceeds the minimum 10% biodiversity net gain requirement, with measures including additional woodland planting, species-rich grasslands, wildlife corridors and appropriate ecological mitigation.
These measures form part of the wider approach to creating a sustainable residential community, combining new housing with green infrastructure and enhanced habitats.
Continued investment in Darlington
Homes by Esh already has an established presence in Darlington, with 144 homes under construction at Hurworth Meadows and 155 properties being delivered at Elder Brook Park on Neasham Road. These follow the completion of a 225-home development at West Park Garden Village.
Securing planning permission for the additional 230 homes represents another significant step towards delivering the wider Burtree Garden Village masterplan, supporting housing provision and the long-term growth of Darlington.
The approval further demonstrates Hedley Planning’s role in supporting residential development across the North East, helping bring forward schemes that respond to local housing demand and contribute to the creation of new communities.
