Proposed Wind Turbine at Park Farm, Little Weighton, HU20 3UN

Proposed Wind Turbine at Park Farm, Little Weighton, HU20 3UN

Hedley Planning Services are submitting a planning application on behalf of Mr John Clappison for the erection of a single wind turbine on land at Common Road, Rowley, Little Weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU20 3UN.

The proposed turbine will measure 67m (tip height) and be situated at Easting: 497610, Northing: 434285 and will be accompanied by associated infrastructure, including a sub-station. The turbine will be located on land associated with Park Farm, a mainly arable holding of 584 acres producing a variety of vegetables and cereals. The applicant’s family have operated at Park Farm since 1932 and have grown operations into the largest producer of Brussel Sprouts in Yorkshire supplying 3 of the major UK supermarkets, and many local pubs, restaurants and farm shops. The applicant additionally employs eleven full time equivalent employees.

Due to current circumstances, demand has increased, thus a greater demand for electricity associated with on-site storage and processing facilities. The proposed turbine will deliver sustainable energy which will significantly reduce electricity costs, thus in-turn increase the economic and environmentally sustainability of an existing farming business.

The proposed turbine will be situated over 471m from the nearest residential property (south). The nearest public access, Common Road, is 422m from the turbine at its closest point. A new access track, measuring 517m (4m width) is proposed for installation and maintenance. A sub-station is also proposed, as seen on consultation boards (link below).

To support a planning application technical documents, such as: landscape, ecology, heritage assessment, transport and noise have been prepared to reduce any potential impact upon the immediate and wider setting.

A public consultation event has been organised at Little Weighton Village Hall on 7 February 2023 between 15:00 and 18:00 in which the public are invited to attend, ask questions of the design team and provide written feedback.

If you are unable to attend the public consultation, please use the survey link below to provide your response. The feedback will be collated and shared with the design team who will then address matters accordingly. Similarly, all the information present at the drop-in event is included within the below link ‘Consultation Boards’. We respectfully request feedback to be returned by Friday 24 February 2023.
