Re-Consultation: Change to Proposed Access via Bluebell Drive/Mulberry Drive

Hedley Planning Services are submitting a revised layout and access location on behalf of Countryside Partnerships for the construction of 187 homes on land west of Whitworth Road, Spennymoor, County Durham, DL16 7LL.

Hedley Planning Services are submitting a revised layout and access location on behalf of Countryside Partnerships for the construction of 187 homes on land west of Whitworth Road, Spennymoor, County Durham, DL16 7LL. Countryside will be delivering these units under their established Linden Homes Brand.

The original proposals were taken through the Local Planning Authority’s Design Review service and as a result, several changes have been made to the project proposals to respond to consultee and public comments.

The following changes have been carefully considered and are proposed to the previously submitted scheme:

  • New vehicular access proposed via Bluebell Drive/Mulberry Drive to the south
  • Reduction in density of the scheme with 187 houses proposed down from 214
  • Wider highways through the scheme to aid traffic flow, improve safety and reduce congestion
  • Further pedestrian connectivity points to existing housing developments to the south and to Whitworth Road to the west
  • 10% of homes to be bungalows, giving further housing options for older people within Spennymoor

Your views are important and will be valuable as the proposal is taken forward

One of the key changes we have made is the position of the vehicular access for the scheme that is now adjoining Bluebell Drive/Mulberry Drive to the south. Due to this change, we feel it is important to hold another public consultation to listen to your views so that any comments that are voiced can be factored into our proposals.

We would like to invite you to a second drop-in public consultation event on Tuesday 5 December 2023 between 3.00pm and 7.00pm at Spennymoor Town Hall. If you are unable to attend the drop-in event, please see below a link to the feedback form to provide your response. The feedback will be collated and shared with the design team who will then address matters accordingly.
