The revised proposal includes retaining the trees to the southern boundary which fronts Tavistock Place and Salcombe Avenue. The revised plan also shows that there will be no access granted from Tavistock Place.

The proposed development is for a detailed planning permission for residential development of 69 affordable dwellings with associated parking and landscaping on land south of Shaftesbury Road, South Shields. The proposals will include a mix of the following;

  • 31 2-bedroom homes;
  • 28 3-bedroom homes; and
  • 10 4-bedroom homes.

The proposal includes off-street parking for each dwelling with 1 space for each 2-bed home and 2 spaces for each 3 and 4-bed home. There will be 23 visitor parking spaces throughout the site.

Care has been taken to retain as many trees as possible and introduce new soft and hard landscaping across the site to create an attractive housing development.

Your views are very important to us and will be influential in the development proposals as they are taken forward.

Please note that there will be further opportunity to comment on the proposals through South Tyneside Council’s formal planning consultation process once a detailed application is submitted. A copy of the consultation details can be downloaded here.
