New homes for County Durham another boost for regional housing

Hedley Planning Services is hailing plans submitted for new homes in County Durham as another welcome boost for regional housing stock.

Supported by our team of experts, the developer’s proposal features a mix of new homes, including  affordable properties, together with spacious gardens, new access roads, footpaths, public open spaces and landscaping.

The move comes as the Government continues to campaign for more new properties to meet the chronic housing shortage and arrest the decline in the affordability of home ownership.

Joe Ridgeon, director at Hexham-based Hedley Planning Services, welcoming this latest planning application, said there is a pressing need for more new homes to meet local housing requirements.

He added: “We are working with property developers and local planning authorities to ensure schemes like this are both viable and a welcome addition to local areas, contributing towards providing high quality homes for local people.

“This scheme will be a terrific development, creating a sustainable residential neighbourhood within easy access of local amenities. It would undoubtedly contribute positively to this part of the North East and is a positive step forward in meeting local housing provision.”

If the project gets the green light later this year, onsite building work will create a number of new jobs in the construction and local supply chain industries. The first phase of properties is expected to be available by spring 2024.
